Effect of Desert Sand on the Section Bonding Properties of Polyethylene Fiber−Engineered Cementitious Composites

Xinjiang is in northwest China and has abundant desert sand. Replacing natural sand with from deserts an urgent need could be used making polyethylene fiber−engineered cementitious composite (PE−ECC). The interfacial bonding properties of PE−ECC (DSPE−ECC) were made using the optimal mix proportion (30% content, 2% fiber volume) laboratory’s previous research results. Normal (NSPE−ECC) DSPE-ECC at different test ages (3, 7, 14, 28 days) subjected to uniaxial tensile tests, a method for determining proposed. Scanning electron microscopy X-ray diffraction analyze development PE-ECC matrix formation hydration products. results indicated that cracking loads 3, days increased by 16.72%, 28%, 23.23%, 10.05%, respectively. Desert had low water content high absorption, which slowed down rate C2S, C3S combining molecules form C−S−H, great influence on ECC 3 days. However, DSPE−ECC only slightly less than those NSPE−ECC days, gradually stabilized. Therefore, addition enhanced fiber/matrix’s properties, stablized increase curing ages.
